Cine City 31st January 2008
Cine City opened in 1912 as “The Scala” and was open and showing pictures for nearly a hundred years in four screens, closing in July 2001. Cine City, the first cinema in Manchester and the third cinema to open in England.
It was threatened with demolishion in 2005 but was saved after objections from heritage groups however now in 2008 scaffolding has been put up and work begun on the inside to prepare it for demolishion. The building will make way for a new apartment building with ground floor shop.

Fantastic photos, some really imressive work! Reminds me of a Cinema which used to be in Bolton… Would have loved to have visitied either site.
